United Nations University

The United Nations University (UNU) is the academic arm of the United Nations (UN). It bridges the academic world and the UN system. Its goal is to develop sustainable solutions for current and future problems of humankind in all aspects of life. Through a problem-oriented and interdisciplinary approach it aims at applied research and education on a global scale. UNU was founded in 1973 and is an autonomous organ of the UN General Assembly. The University comprises headquarters Tokyo, Japan, and more than a dozen Institutes and Programmes worldwide.

Background

Jessica Johmann holds a Bachelor's degree in International Business from the International Business School of the University of Bournemouth, UK and a Master's degree in International Relations with a regional focus on Latin America, Middle East and South-East Asia from the CIDOB Foundation - Centre for International Relations and Development Studies in Barcelona, Spain and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She is a fluent speaker of German, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese with basic knowledge of Korean and Arabic.

Prior to joining UNU in Bonn, she gained three years work experience as an International Junior Product Manager for the South-Korean SK Group at its European headquarter in Frankfurt. This was followed by a posting in Barcelona where she worked one and a half years for a Swiss International Consulting Group in the field of business development. Jessica Johmann is a Programme Associate working within the Executive Office at UNU-EHS and UNU-ViE. Her work focuses on institutional development and new UNU initiatives.
