5 April 2012. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released its Special Report on Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation (SREX). UNU-EHS scientist PD Dr.-Ing. Jörn Birkmann contributed to Chapter 2 "Determinants of Risk: Exposure and Vulnerability" as lead author. 220 authors from 62 countries worked on the report; more than 18,000 review comments were received and addressed. | Read more

From 21 until 23 February 2012, the 5th WISDOM PhD Scientific Seminar took place in Can Tho City, jointly organized by UNU-EHS and Can Tho University. From 21 to 22 October 2010 the 7th meeting of the UNU-EHS Expert Working Group (EWG) on Measuring Vulnerability took place on the UN Campus in Bonn. More than 20 experts of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) community and the Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) community from Tanzania, USA, Peru, Canada, Colombia, Australia, United Kingdom, Indonesia and Germany discussed the challenges and constraints of linking DRR and CCA. | Read more
