UNU-EHS :: Tamer Afifi
BACKGROUND
Tamer holds a PhD in Economics (International Trade) from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, where his thesis was titled ‘The Challenge of Implementing the Overlapping Regional Trade Agreements in Egypt’, an MA in Economics of Development from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, The Netherlands, where his thesis was titled ‘The Poor in the Egyptian Labor Market During an Adjustment Period: For Better or Worse?’ and a B.Sc. in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, Egypt. He has been teaching and conducting economic research during his work as a Junior Lecturer at the Economics Department of the Faculty of Commerce, Sohag University, Egypt. Prior to his work at UNU-EHS, Tamer joined the Bonn International Graduate School (BIGS-DR) of the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, Germany, as a Junior Researcher.
WORKING AREA AT UNU-EHS Tamer serves as a Junior Academic Officer at UNU-EHS. He works in the area of Environmental Change and Forced Migration. As an Economist, his work focuses inter alia on economic aspects and modeling techniques in association with environmental migration.
