Xiaomeng Shen
BACKGROUND
Xiaomeng holds a Bachelor of Arts (English literature and international relations) degree from the Beijing Foreign Studies University and a Master of Translation (Translation, Linguistics and Economics) degree from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn. She has successfully completed a doctoral course on Development Studies at the Centre for Development Studies (ZEF) and a series of courses in Human Geography at the Geography Department at the University of Bonn. She has also organized, presented and participated in international conferences.
Before Xiaomeng joined UNU-EHS, she worked in various sectors which gives her a broad range of professional experiences: civil service in the Chinese state enterprise Air China for 3 years, translation of books and essays of different authors including Nobel Prize Laureates, 7 years experience in tutoring and teaching at the University of Bonn, and radio journalism with the Deutsche Welle.

WORKING AREA AT UNU-EHS
Xiaomeng Shen is a PhD Researcher at the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) in Bonn and at the Geography Department of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms- University of Bonn, Germany. Her thesis research 'Risk Perception and Communication in Different Cultural Settings of China and Germany' identifies the commonalities and differences in flood risk perception and communication and analyzes how these aviations are embedded in culture.
