United Nations University

The United Nations University (UNU) is the academic arm of the United Nations (UN). It bridges the academic world and the UN system. Its goal is to develop sustainable solutions for current and future problems of humankind in all aspects of life. Through a problem-oriented and interdisciplinary approach it aims at applied research and education on a global scale. UNU was founded in 1973 and is an autonomous organ of the UN General Assembly. The University comprises headquarters Tokyo, Japan, and more than a dozen Institutes and Programmes worldwide.

NNSUACE Awards UNU-EHS Director Prof. Dr. Janos J. Bogardi an Honorary Doctorate

On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the UNESCO Chair the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNSUACE) awarded the Director of UNU-EHS Prof. Dr. Janos Bogardi an honorary doctorate. The celebration has been visited by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valeriy Pavlinovich Shantsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany Walter Jurgen Schmidt, and many foreign participants of the symposium and invited guests from Germany, the Netherlands, USA, and other countries.

UNU-EHS operates at the Nizhny Novgorod State University for Architecture and Civil Engineering in the Russian Federation a Cooperation Unit, which occupies with vulnerability assessment of urban communities to floods and development of a local disaster atlas.
